ROBS Providers Without Monthly Administration Fees

If you want a ROBS provider that does not bill administration every month, the public record narrows the answer: My Solo 401k Financial publishes annual support after year one, Nexus publishes quarterly administration, and Business Funding Trust publishes a no-cost administration kit with incomplete optional-help pricing. None of those facts proves the provider is cheapest, best, or free to maintain.

Provider and official sources reopened August 13, 2026. This page keeps the 14-provider directory order and treats quotes, incomplete records, and unavailable pages as unknown rather than zero.

Quick classification

1
annual recurring
1
quarterly recurring
6
monthly recurring

first-year, quote, incomplete, or unverified

Short answer: three records are nonmonthly, but only two have complete recurring math

My Solo 401k Financial publishes a $3,000 setup fee that includes first-year support and a $899 annual fee starting 12 months later for the first 10 participants.[8] Nexus 401(k) by Talcott Forge publishes $5,000 setup plus $500 per quarter for ongoing administration.[16] Business Funding Trust publishes a no-cost plan administration kit, but it does not publish exact current setup or optional professional-administrator help amounts.[11]

That is the practical answer to the “without monthly administration fees” question. It is not a recommendation to choose those providers automatically. A founder still needs the full cost, renewal date, employee-administration scope, valuation support, filings, audit help, cancellation terms, and exit support in writing.

What annual, quarterly, kit-based, quote-only, and unknown mean

Read these labels as billing-cadence evidence, not as quality scores. The same provider can have a nonmonthly cadence and still require paid work outside the published base scope.

Annual recurring

The provider publishes a yearly administration or support charge. For this page, that means My Solo 401k Financial’s $899 annual fee after the included first year.[8]

Quarterly recurring

The provider publishes a charge billed every quarter. Nexus publishes $500 per quarter, so the first-year recurring amount is four quarters and the three-year recurring amount is 12 quarters.[16]

Kit-based incomplete

The provider publishes a no-cost administration kit, but does not publish enough dollar inputs to compute full cost. Business Funding Trust fits this category because optional professional help is described only as an affordable fee.[11]

Quote-only, first-year-only, and unverified

Quote-only means a provider describes service but does not publish exact prices. First-year-only means a displayed first-year or promotional amount is not enough to verify renewal. Unverified means the current public page could not be reached.

Provider-by-provider administration cadence

These cards preserve the 14-provider directory order. A provider’s position here is not a paid ranking, product rating, or universal winner claim.

Independently reproducible first- and three-year calculations

The calculation includes published setup plus the recurring administration charge that would occur in the first 12 months or first 36 months. It excludes items the public source leaves variable, such as state-specific charges, participant extras, unusual corrections, audits, termination, cancellation, sale, tax, legal, and valuation edge cases unless the cited source prices them as part of the base package.

Monthly examples

Guidant: $5,495 + ($149 × 12) = $7,283; $5,495 + ($149 × 36) = $10,859.[3] FranFund: $4,995 + ($165 × 12) = $6,975; $4,995 + ($165 × 36) = $10,935.[5]

Nonmonthly examples

My Solo 401k: $3,000 first year; $3,000 + ($899 × 2) = $4,798 for three years.[8] Nexus: $5,000 + ($500 × 4) = $7,000; $5,000 + ($500 × 12) = $11,000.[16]

How to compare full cost and contract scope

Do not compare cadence alone. The DOL explains that fees are one factor in selecting and monitoring a retirement-plan service provider; the comparison should look at covered services, total cost, compensation, conflicts, and what is excluded.[2] For a ROBS plan, the contract should spell out who handles plan documents, employee eligibility, census work, testing, Form 5500, Form 1099-R, Form 945, corporate tax coordination, fidelity bond, valuation, amendments, restatements, audit response, corrections, cancellation, plan termination, stock redemption, and sale or exit work.

The IRS ROBS project is relevant because it identifies recurring problems in ROBS arrangements, including filings, valuation, promoter fees, employee access, and failures to understand that the qualified plan is a separate entity with continuing requirements.[1] A lower recurring cadence does not remove those responsibilities.

Professional boundaries and update triggers

This page is educational. It does not determine whether a provider’s contract is reasonable for a specific plan, whether a particular ROBS arrangement satisfies tax or ERISA rules, or whether a business is a suitable use of retirement-plan assets. Before signing, a founder should coordinate provider terms with an ERISA attorney, CPA, valuation professional, lender, and plan administrator when those roles are relevant.

Commercial disclosure: this page contains no paid ranking, product rating, lead form, affiliate compensation, or provider-review schema. Update triggers include any provider change to setup, monthly, quarterly, annual, first-year, promotional, renewal, cancellation, termination, valuation, filing, employee, or audit wording; ROBsAdvisor becoming reachable; or a quote-only provider publishing exact fees.

Frequently asked questions

These answers address the comparison questions that usually change a founder’s next step after seeing the provider list.

Which providers publish an administration cadence that is not monthly?

My Solo 401k Financial publishes annual support after year one; Nexus publishes quarterly administration; Business Funding Trust publishes a no-cost administration kit, but its setup and optional professional-help pricing are incomplete. These are cadence classifications, not rankings.

Does no monthly administration fee mean no recurring fee?

No. Annual, quarterly, first-year-only, kit-based, quote-only, incomplete, and unverified records have different meanings. Missing monthly wording is not the same as zero recurring cost.

Why are some totals blank?

The math is left blank when public inputs are quote-only, incomplete, promotional without a verified renewal, unavailable, or internally conflicting in a way that would require an assumption.

What should a founder verify before signing?

Verify the setup fee, billing start date, renewal cadence, employee-administration scope, valuation support, Form 5500 and tax-form support, audit help, amendment work, cancellation terms, plan termination, stock redemption, and sale or exit fees in the contract.

Use cadence as a screen, not the final decision

A nonmonthly cadence can reduce billing friction, but written scope determines the real plan-administration burden.
