ROBS Provider Fee Calculator

Direct answer: this calculator totals documented ROBS provider setup and administration fees for a selected horizon. It includes the setup year as year 1, annualizes recurring administration by cadence, excludes unknown fees from arithmetic, and requires written provider verification before relying on any preset.

By Dennis Shirshikov · Published 2026-08-13 · Updated 2026-08-13

Method: setup is counted once in year 1. Recurring admin is counted once per included year after annualizing monthly, quarterly, or annual cadence. My Solo 401k is handled separately because its maintained record says first-year support is included in setup.

No taxes, investment losses, business costs, lead forms, rankings, or quote requests are included.

Calculate documented provider admin fees

Choose a source-backed preset or enter a written custom scenario. The setup year is year 1. Recurring periods are counted for each included year unless the preset documents first-year support inside setup.

Scenario type

Presets are alphabetical and inherit maintained provider records. Unknown presets show the exclusion instead of filling blanks.

1 to 30; whole years.

Optional documented add-ons

Leave off unless a quote or fee page documents the amount. These fields never auto-fill provider unknowns.

0 to 100000; whole dollars.

0 to 50000; whole dollars.

Excluded and unknown

  • Taxes, penalties, investment losses, business purchase price, payroll, operating losses, loan interest, valuation or professional fees not explicitly entered, correction costs, and exit costs are not part of this provider-admin result.
  • Optional documented one-time add-ons are excluded because the switch is off.
  • Optional documented recurring add-ons are excluded because the switch is off.
  • Additional partner costs, pass-throughs, state-specific reimbursements, corrections, termination, cancellation, and refund mechanics require written confirmation.
  • State filing, registered-agent, bond, custodian, trustee, bank, payroll, CPA, tax-return, correction, cancellation, refund, transition, valuation beyond public scope, and exit or plan-termination costs are excluded unless documented separately.
  • Provider contracts can change price, timing, included services, refund terms, employee support, valuation scope, and audit assistance after the public source date.

Comparison caveat: lower arithmetic is not a recommendation and provider presets are not equivalent scope. Verify current fees, cadence, services, pass-throughs, refund terms, and professional boundaries directly with each provider.

Privacy: this native calculator uses on-page FormData only. It does not store inputs, update the URL, set cookies, capture leads, or request a quote.

What the result means

The result is a provider-fee scenario, not a provider recommendation. A lower cumulative number may reflect a narrower service scope, first-year support timing, starts-at pricing, or missing public detail rather than a better provider. DOL fee materials support comparing services and costs together and monitoring providers over time.[2] [3]

The calculator does not rank, score, match, collect contact information, estimate undisclosed fees, or treat unknown provider fees as zero. Unknown presets remain selectable so the exclusion is visible, but they cannot produce a preset calculation.

Worked example independently checked

Example: FranFund's maintained record shows a $4,995 setup fee and $165 monthly required TPA service. For a three-year horizon with no add-ons, annual recurring equals $165 × 12 = $1,980. First-year cost equals $4,995 + $1,980 = $6,975. Three-year cumulative provider admin cost equals $4,995 + ($1,980 × 3) = $10,935. That math excludes separate business-loan packaging, pass-throughs, taxes, valuation or exit work unless a written quote documents and the user turns on an add-on.

Formulas, assumptions, and boundaries

  • First year = setup fee + first annualized recurring administration period + enabled one-time add-on + enabled annualized recurring add-on.
  • Selected horizon = setup fee + annualized recurring administration × included recurring periods + enabled one-time add-on + enabled recurring add-on × horizon years.
  • Recurring annualized cost = monthly × 12, quarterly × 4, or annual × 1.
  • Custom scenarios require the user to enter documented setup and recurring amounts; the tool does not fill missing provider fees from averages, competitors, or guesses.
  • The result excludes taxes, penalties, investment opportunity cost, retirement-account losses, business purchase price, operating costs, loan interest, plan corrections, provider changes, termination, and exit costs unless entered as explicit add-ons.

Preset sources, unknowns, and editorial independence

Provider presets inherit canonical provider records used by the directory and interactive comparison tool.[4] They preserve fee-change warnings, source dates, affiliate labels, unknowns, and scope caveats. Presets are alphabetical, not ranked; affiliate status does not affect defaults or ordering.

Complete arithmetic presets currently exist for Accelefund, Benetrends Financial, FranFund, Guidant Financial, My Solo 401k Financial, Nexus 401(k) by Talcott Forge, Pango Financial, ROBSPRO. Incomplete or unavailable presets remain excluded from arithmetic: Aprio, Business Funding Trust, Directed Equity, IRA Financial, ROBsAdvisor, Tenet Financial Group.

This educational tool does not provide legal, tax, fiduciary, investment, valuation, accounting, or provider-selection advice. Ask each provider for current written setup fees, recurring fees, billing cadence, participant charges, valuation costs, audit support, contract exclusions, cancellation/refund terms, transition fees, and exit or plan-termination fees.
